Southgate District Beaver Scout Sports Day
The Colony ran, jumped and cheered their way into first place. This is a fantastic result, they all did really well. Even the parents in the parents race. The last time 6th Southgate Beaver Scouts won the trophy was in 1989!
Sport Relief Mile
Sport Relief is back, and this time it's from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st March. The whole of the UK will come together to get active, raise cash and change lives. It has a unique history of dedicated people doing extraordinary things to make a difference - from David Walliams’ swim across the English Channel, to Eddie Izzard’s amazing marathon a day around the UK.
6th Southgate Scout Group are doing their bit by doing a sponsered mile from the Scout Hut to ASDA near Southgate Circus on Friday 19th March from 5.30pm. All young people in the Group, including Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts and Scouts have the opportunity to be involved in raising money for this really worthwhile charity.

The 6th Southgate Scout Group have been given £8,500 pounds by the Awards for All to help more members of the local community to join the adventure of Scouting. The money will be used to help transform the Scout Group's current Scouting facility into a venue fit for 21st Century Scouting. Awards for All is the small grants scheme administered by the Big Lottery Fund on behalf of Lottery good cause funders, Arts Council England, Big Lottery Fund, Heritage Lottery Fund and Sport England. The scheme makes awards of between £300 and £10,000 to grass roots community groups and voluntary organisations. Daniel Bush, Scout Leader at 6th Southgate Scout Group said "Scouting puts adventure back into the lives of both young people and adults, whether it's a Beaver Scouts first night away from home of an adult climbing a mountain that's a real adventure. This award will help us to continue offering challenge and fun to the local community." Alison Rowe, Big Lottery Fund Head for the South East region, said on behalf of the Awards for All funders: "The latest round of Awards for All grants continue support for a diverse range of projects that will benefit people across the South East region, and is a reminder that even relatively small sums of money can have a big impact on the lives of people and communities." During 2007, there will be a whole series of exciting events and adventurous activities around the UK. Some of these will be on a national scale whilst others will be local. There will also be a number of nationally co-ordinated events taking place locally, such as the Centenary Camps. This will aim to help every member, young or old, to get the maximum out of the Centenary of Scouting. Scouting is a million times bigger than when it started. Today, there are 28 million Scouts, in nearly every country in the world. The 6th Southgate Scout Group offers fun, challenge and adventure to young people aged 6 - 15.
