The Scouts were asked to write quotes as part of their PR Badge. This is what they said:
I've been a Scout for a few weeks. I enjoy Scouts because you make friends, have fun, do activities and get challenges. It's great. -- Megan -March 2007
I go to Scouts because it is really fun and you get to make more friends. I enjoy it because of the fun, adventure and challenge. I really enjoy Scouts especially the games. However I really enjoy going on camps and mixing with Scouts from other patrols. I really like the challenge because it pushes you. For instance I really enjoyed the Chiltern 20 and the canoeing and climbing. I really enjoy the adventure because you get to experience new things like how to survive in the woods. I like Scouts because they let girls in, you get to do loads of extreme sports, but don't worry you do have safety suits and stuff. There's cooking, model making and Scout camp. Games that you would play at Scouts are mostly dodgeball, obstacle course, man hunt and football. -- Olivia -March 2007
My name is Chantae. I decided to join Scouts because my friend goes and said it is great. My friend's name is Olivia. She also said you make lots of friends and that we play lots of safe, exciting games. So I asked my parents if I could go (they said yes) and I went. When I went I made lots of really kind friends, like she said, and there are great games that are fun, safe and very exciting. I love it! We also learn things and do challenges to get badges. The reason I go to Scouts is that we do lots of fun games and outdoor activities. I like them because they are an adventure and you don't normally get to do them. They are quite often challenging like the survival camp but are fun at the same time. I also go because some of my friends go to Scouts as well and as some are in different secondary schools I don't get to see them that often. -- Matt C -March 2007
Scouts is a fun, friendly place to be. I've met so many nice people and have made so many friends! I joined to go camping and do stuff that I can't do normally with my friends and now that I've joined I can. And it's better than I expected! I'm really glad that Scouts lets girls in because if it didn't I probably wouldn't be able to go camping, canoeing, hiking, badges or anything like that! -- Aoife -March 2007
There are many reasons why I go to Scouts; to meet people from different places, make friends, and do different things every week. We get to do activities we have never done before, which is exciting and challenging. I especially enjoy camping with the Scouts because we always have a great time. -- Katie -March 2007
I joined Scouts because my friends told me that Scouts is really cool and fun. On my first day of Scouts we played a game of Man Hunt, don't worry it's got nothing to do with violence or war. It is just hide and seek in the dark outside. I really enjoyed it. I go to Scouts for fun - I play games and enjoy myself to the extreme. I go to Scouts for adventure and challenge, every year I go on multiple camps and discover new and amazing places. I also annually depart on a 20km hike called the Chiltern 20. This is one of my favourite events in the whole year. I go to Scouts for friendship - every week the Scout Group grows and every week I make more friends. I also have great times with my existing friends such as Joseph.
